Private View - Tuesday 4th September, 6.00 - 8.00
Adam Gallery is proud to announce new work demonstrating Louise McClary's use of texture and organic forms which include flower petals, leaf shapes and seaweed fronds.
The paintings are inspired by the Lizard Peninsula in Cornwall where Louise has lived and worked for seventeen years.
'I admire Louise's work: she has a beautiful sensibility to the natural things of the world around her, and an original eye. And she paints with great sensitivity and touch."
- Mel Gooding, Art critic
McClary's work conveys elements of mutability within it, of light and colour, landscape and geography, becoming the very form and feeling of her paintings. This makes her a rather different kind of artist to many working within this same landscape, the rich and subtly painterly means by which she gives voice to it owing rather more to the luminous abstractions from Nature of American abstract expressionists like Joan Mitchell or the minimalist austerities of Agnes Martin.
