East Village, the new residental neighbourhood on the site of the Athletes Village in the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, is to be immortalised in LEGO.
Young Londoners - and even not so young Londoners - are invited to help build the scaled-down model at Westfield Stratford City from 25 September to 1 October.
Measuring 3 sq m, the LEGO model will repliate the iconic Olympic skyline, and show the shape of things to come when East Village opens to the public in Summer 2013. When it s completed, East Village will provide 2,818 high-quality homes.
The model, which will be constructed over the course of 400 hours, will provide the first-ever detailed view of the heart of East Village, which was closed to the public for the duration to the Games. The scene will include Chobham Academy - the state-of-the-art new education campus for 1,800 students - as well as the East Village Health and Wellbeing Centre, and entertainment venues within the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park.
LEGO’s professional builders will be on hand to co-ordinate the project.
Participation is completely free - and LEGO prizes are available to be won by the best young builders.
