The London Group Centenary Exhibition is the first of a series of events planned for 2013 to mark the 100th anniversary of this thriving artists’ collective. Around 100 contemporary paintings, print, sculpture and video works by current Group members will be shown at the PM Gallery. While a series of site-specific installations run throughout the adjacent Pitzhanger Manor, the former home of the architect Sir John Soane. Soane’s work, and the lives of the Pitzhanger Manor’s residents throughout its history, are among the inspirations for these works.
The exhibition commemorates the role of The London Group in shaping the world of visual arts over 100 years and highlights the continued relevance of this independent and artist-led Group today.
The exhibition runs from 23 January – 9 March 2013 and is free of charge.
