SuperLAB! We are Superhuman

SuperLAB! brings together artists and scientists in London for two nights to explore the superabilities of comic book characters. Whether it's the the crime fighting powers of good or the brain washing attempts of the evil, we will be exhibiting hands-on demonstrations of just how close we are to owning these extraordinary abilities.

On 20 Feb, our first event "Draw" will be focusing on the artistic ability behind creating comic books and graphic novels. Commissioned artist Alice Shirley will be creating new art pieces at the event and giving live commentary on her techniques, whilst neurologists and psychologists discuss how art has influenced science and how science has started to understand what makes a good artist. We'll also have researchers on creativity exploring the controversial issue of drug use and creativity in artistic ability.

On 27th Feb, "Crime" will take a closer look at the abilities of the comic book protagonists and antagonists. Some of the questions we'll be asking are 'what are the latest forensic techniques in use to track down wrong-doers?', 'is it possible to beat a lie detector?', and 'is it possible to make someone believe what you want them to believe?'. Come along and see if you can beat our lie detector and resist our persuasion attempts - be prepared for a mind-altering evening…
