Join us for an evening hosted by The Spitalfields Society as we screen this classic French prize winning film about the St Bartholomew's Day Massacre which marks the opening day of the Huguenots of Spitalfields Festival.

La Reine Margot is a must see film for anyone wishing to learn more about the Huguenots, their plight and reasons for fleeing to eventually settle in the East End of London.

The year is 1572 and Young Queen Margot finds herself trapped in an arranged marriage amidst a religious war between Catholics and Protestants. She hopes to escape with a new lover, but finds herself imprisoned by her powerful and ruthless family. Starring Isabelle Adjani & Daniel Auteuil, based on the novel by Alexandre Dumas.
