CoolTan Arts Largactyl Shuffle – Bermondsey Walk
Start: Tate Modern (outside The Turbine Hall entrance), Bankside, London SE1 9TG

Join CoolTan Arts Largactyl Shuffle for the Bermondsey walk, a guided, stigma-busting cultural walk, designed to encourage mental and physical wellbeing, through art, exercise, humour and history.

For April’s Largactyl Shuffle we will walk from Tate Modern to Bermondsey to explore the heritage of this intriguing area of Southwark. Please join us to hear talks on the history, development and the modification of Bermondsey in relation to the arts, mental health and social history.

These include talks about one of Bermondsey's most famous characters, Dr Alred Salter, a crusading MP who made it his mission to improve living conditions in the area; and Jacob's Island, a once notorious slum immortalised by Charles Dickens in his classic novel 'Oliver Twist'.

We ask that walkers join us at the beginning of walks to register. We are meeting for registration at 11.30am outside The Turbine Hall entrance at The Tate Modern, SE1.The walk leaves at 12.00 prompt and the full length walk will end at approx. 4.30pm. Please wear comfortable shoes and bring your own water.

Largactyl Shuffle walks are suitable for all levels of walking and are accessible to wheelchair users and people with disabilities. You can join us for whatever tickles your fancy feet, whether it is half a mile or the full distance of 4.5 miles!!

The walk leaders wear orange high-viz vests and rucksacks. Call CoolTan Arts on 07985 658443 if you cannot find the walking group on the day.

The walk is free but voluntary donations will be appreciated.
