Northbank, a sort of ‘Cornwall-on-Thames’ restaurant offering a stunning array of Cornish dishes and ingredients, is hosting a mead tasting event every Monday in the bar from Monday 22nd April.
At Mead Mondays, guests can try a mead cocktail and a small plate for £10. Expect meads from the Cornish Mead Company – both standard and the fruitier ones. There will also be cocktails such as the favourite Honey Mead Rise – a stunning mix of honey Mead with Wyborowa Vodka, Riesling, Lemon and Thyme, and small plates from fantastic new chef Jason Marchant, such as Cornish Crumpet, Falmouth Crab Linguine, and Northbank’s now famous Hog’s Pudding.
Cornish Mead is an historically British drink, once served in palaces and great halls until Henry VIII dissolved the monasteries, where mead was traditionally made. In recent times ancient recipes have been revived in Cornwall, and mead is being rediscovered by a new generation.
