Sergei Eisenstein’s Strike (USSR 1925), the story of a protest by factory workers in the Tsarist Russia of 1912 and its violent suppression, is considered a masterpiece of cinema as propaganda. This special screening includes an introduction by Ian Christie, Professor of Film and Media History at Birkbeck College and live music from the Cabinet of Living Cinema.
