Battersea Power Station is the principal hub for this year’s Chelsea Fringe Festival, the alternative gardening festival. Around 20 projects encompassing sculpture, interactive artwork, performances and poetry, food and drink stalls, a surreal tea party and a mass human ‘planting’ will find their place in Battersea Power Station’s Pop-Up Park. This is the first time in 30 years that the grounds of the iconic Grade II* listed building will be accessible to the public.

The 2.5 acre Pop-Up Park was created by LDA Design, most prominently known for their delivery of the Olympic Park. The Pop-Up park will be open to the public during the weekends between now and September, events and construction schedules allowing. Those wishing to hold particular events in the Pop-Up park are invited to put any proposals to the events team at Battersea Power Station.

Hosting the Chelsea Fringe Festival is the first of many community initiatives planned for Battersea Power Station and is an important gesture towards opening the site to visitors as much as possible within the constraints of ongoing construction works.

In addition to events taking place in the Pop-Up Park, the Power Station itself continues to be a popular host venue for filming, parties, events and launches with requests being accommodated as often as possible.
