TWO OUTSTANDING young musicians are returning to Sutton House for this year's summer concert. Violinist Lana Trotovšek and pianist Yoko Misumi, who have also played the house’s concert hall as members of the Greenwich Trio, will perform the following varied and colourful programme:

S. Prokofiev: Sonata for violin and piano in F minor, no.1, op. 80

Arvo Part: Fratres

C. Debussy: Sonata for Violin and Piano in G minor

J. Brahms: Scherzo for Violin and Piano in C minor

F.Kreisler: Liebesleid

F.Kreisler: Preludium and Allegro

Trotovšek studied under Ruggiero Ricci at Salzburg’s Mozarteum. This young Slovenian has performed at St John’s Smith Square in London, Amsterdam’s Concertgebouw, Vienna’s Konzerthaus and on other great European stages. She has premiered and recorded works for violin and orchestra that were specially written for her, as well as winning international competitions and prizes. Her performance with the Mariinsky Theatre Orchestra under the baton of Valery Gergiev last September won enthusiastic reviews.

Misumi was born in Kyoto to a musical family. Her talent became evident at 14, when she won her first prize. Once she had completed high school, she left Japan for London to continue her music studies. In the Greenwich Trio she has recorded with Trotovšek (and Stjepan Hauser) and has been a soloist under James Judd and Barry Wordsworth, among other renowned conductors. She has played at Kyoto Concert Hall, the Concertgebouw, St Martin-in-the-Fields, Kings Place and the Wigmore Hall. Of course, you do not have to travel to such venues: you can see these rising young stars in the comfortable, purpose-built music venue Wenlock Barn in Hackney’s 1530s-vintage National Trust gentleman’s house.

But don’t be slow to book: the last concert sold out and our summer concerts marking the end of the Sutton House Music Society season tend to be well-attended.
