Barrier-busting jazz/ contemporary music binge with Jazz on 3 presenter Jez Nelson. Every last Monday.
If you haven't been to JITR before; we have two short opening sets and then a longer one from our main act. And we have Jez DJing in the bar in the break, as well playing some classic jazz.
The three acts for this month are:
Opening the night we have Quadraceratops who are a group playing original music by London-based saxophonist Cath Roberts. The current set of music is inspired by insects, fairground rides, underground tunnelling machines and fictional serial killers. The band features some of London’s most exciting players, many members of the groundbreaking F-IRE Collective.
The solo spot is filled with the well established saxophonist Alan Wilkinson.
Headlining this month we have Matthew Halsall. A Manchester based trumpeter, composer, arranger and band-leader, Matthew Halsall is one of the rising stars of the UK jazz scene.
We're excited to have Gina Southgate as our artist in residence, painting the action as it happens. You can see her work on display in our foyer, on her website, and of course watch her painting live on the night...
Jez adds: “I hope we get a really wide range of people coming along just to open their minds and check things out."
Every last Monday in the month. Starting at 6pm, with DJ set in the bar. First band 8pm.
