LEZ ZEPPELIN are something new. More than a tribute band, definitely not a covers band, hardly a pale imitation.

Described as “the most powerful female band in rock history” (Chuck Klosterman ,Spin magazine) they play the music of Led Zeppelin with all the swagger of the past but the input of the present. And, of course, they’re all girls.

Since they came together in 2004 the New York based band have taken their gender-bender audacity across the world. They have played India, America, Europe and Japan and this summer they hit the UK for a handful of selected dates kicking off with the Isle Of Wight Festival.

This is not the first time Lez Zep have been seen on these shores – they took Download by storm in 2007 – but it’s certainly the first time in over five years and since the release of “Lez Zeppelin 1”, their own take on LZ’s original 1969 debut album.

“Lez Zeppelin 1” was recorded at a world class analogue studio on Long Island New York on the same vintage equipment that serviced the original. The album remains true to the sound and texture of the 60s vinyl while the girls still bring their own phrasing, timbre and timing to bear.

Lez Zeppelin are the brainchild of NY guitarist Steph Paynes, a former music journalist who, after a two year stint as singer/guitarist with Ronnie Spector, decided to form a band so she could indulge her passion for Jimmy Page’s guitar work. The group’s talent and force quickly attracted widespread acclaim and they were soon appearing on TV and radio and playing across the country.

Their first album “Lez Zeppelin” was released in 2007 and produced by Eddie Kramer (engineer on Led Zeppelin ll, Physical Graffiti and The Song Remains The Same). A series of major dates and festival bookings followed including the Bonnaroo Festival in 2008 playing to 20,000 people.

Since then the band have toured across three continents. They deliver a musical experience that not only exceeds expectations but serves as the authentic female counterpart of one of the greatest rock groups of all time. To quote Lenny Kaye – “They are the other. The mirror image....the ultimate turn on.”

“Strapping on the double-necked Gibson with attitude to burn, this all-girl quartet pays tribute to its swaggering namesake Led Zeppelin, ripping through the catalog with blazing accuracy.”
New York Times

"They are the best band I've seen all year, no question" ¬¬
The Times

“Best Tribute Band in the World: Lez Zeppelin. The parallel universe genius of Lez Zeppelin, the sass-stacked all woman band toured the world, slayed it, and recorded an album with Led Zep's producer Eddie Kramer. We know who John Bonham would have been rooting for”
The Guardian

“After a single listen to their music, it's obvious Lez Zeppelin has a tremendous amount of love and respect for Rock and Roll Hall of Famer's Led Zeppelin. Lez Zeppelin are great musicians. And then some.”
Time Out

“Lez Zeppelin absolutely owns their stage and even if credit is owed to Page, Plant, Jones and Bonham, these musicians have taken it to a new level.”
New York Examiner

“Tribute bands aren’t supposed to be this good.”
