The exhibition complemented by a documentary film, curated and directed by Dr Bea Lewkowicz, portrays the lives of twenty five Jewish Austrian refugees from Nazism to Britain. It explores their double exposure to the cultures of Austria and Britain and the ways in which they rebuilt their lives in the UK. The portraited women and men were interviewed for the AJR’s Refugee Voices, a groundbreaking Holocaust testimony collection of 150 filmed interviews, available at the library of the German Historical Institute London.
