Vinyl Memories: Talking Classic British Black Music Albums is something happening in your neck of the woods, well, Battesea Library at Clapham Junction.

I’m sure some of you have some long forgotten British black music LPs, yes, that format that ruled until CDs and mp3s and digital files came on the scene. You are very much welcome to join us, especially if you can come with one of those old vinyl thingies, to play a cut and reminisce about how that track saved your life, etc, etc.

Join us in celebrating British Black Music Month (BBMM) with this free, inter-generational event, where BBM/BMC founder and facilitator Kwaku, special guests, and participants share their memories of some of their favourite British black music albums*.

History and music consultant Kwaku leads an intimate gathering in reminiscing about that special experience that comes with engaging with recorded music in a tactile physical format like vinyl (and CD). In today’s world in which many people, particularly young people, do not own music in a physical format, this is an opportunity for adults and young people to experience handling records, reading gate-fold sleeves, and hearing stories whilst also listening to British black music records, be they classics, mega-hits, under-rated underground faves, or your favourite album track.

*Participants are welcome to bring your vinyl or CD, and share your memories. Adults and parents are encouraged to attend with young people in order to expose them to the experience of engaging with vinyl and CD, and also to let them know some of the music you used to rave to back in the "old days"!!
