Our penultimate public open day this year is taking place on the 1st of September. Don’t miss out on a fantastic chance to finally see the spectacular Victorian cast ironwork featured at the Crossness Pumping Station.
The Crossness Pumping Station is one of the only two Grade I listed industrial buildings in London and it also has the world’s largest working rotative beam engine, “Prince Consort”, which will be steaming throughout the day.
This Crossness steam day will appeal to engineering and steam buffs, not to mention those into industrial heritage and indeed anyone who enjoys history and has a sense of wonder. Free and easy is readily available.
Refreshments are available at the café and museum shop on site. The Crossness Pumping Station is located approximately 6 miles from Junction 1 of the M25. The nearest rail station is Abbey Wood from where there are frequent bus services. For more detailed directions feel free to call 0208 311 3711.
