The Africa Centre will be holding its first Summer Festival, a 2-day event, on the 3rd and 4th of August 2013 (12 noon – 10pm on both days), in and around the Covent Garden Piazza in central London. The festival, curated by the acclaimed artist, Yinka Shonibare, MBE, will showcase the best of contemporary African arts and culture, including music from emerging artists, a fashion show, film and photography, visual art exhibitions and African arts and crafts stalls. The headline act will be the international star and neo-soul singer, Nneka, who will be performing live on the evening of Saturday, August 3rd. Other performing artists include DJ Edu, the anchor for BBC 1xtra’s “Destination Africa” radio show, and Wale Ojo and the London Afrobeat Collective.
Admission is free on a first-come, first-served basis, but capacity for the live music events is limited.
