THE world’s top explorers and daredevils are gathering under one roof in London for one night only to share their experiences of adventure with a live audience.

More than 400 guests will be treated to 12 talks from some of the finest adventurers on the face of the planet during the ‘Night of Adventure’ event at Vue Cinema.

Speakers include founder of Explorers Connect Belinda Kirk and co-curator of the Adventure Travel Film Festival Austin Vince. Other speakers range from a man who cycled 46,000 miles around the world, to a woman who rowed solo across the Atlantic Ocean.

Each speaker will be limited to just 20 slides which will be shown on the enormous cinema screen to accompany their tales. The challenge for the speakers is that each slide will scroll forward automatically after just 20 seconds.

The event’s host is Dave Cornthwaite, who recently rode an ElliptiGO elliptical bicycle 2,000 miles from Liverpool to Nice as part of his Expedition 1000 quest. It challenged daredevils to complete 25 journeys of 1,000 miles or more, using a different form of non-motorised transport.

Dave said: “The speakers at ‘Night of Adventure’ may have travelled the world several times over and found themselves in some pretty hairy situations along the way, but their talks on 16 September could well be their biggest challenge to date.

Dave added: “The event aims to celebrate the spirit of adventure in all its guises and hopefully raise lots of money for Hope and Homes for Children.”

The UK-based charity works with willing governments across Central and Eastern Europe and Africa, helping to get abandoned and orphaned children out of institutions and into loving families.
