Raga to Reggae is a 3 day cross-genre world music festival bringing some of the best musical talent in the UK exclusively to Tara Theatre.

Wed 6 November| 7.30pm
Julia Biel, singer/songwriter and regular member of reggae/afrobeat collective soothsayers here performs her own jazz, soul and reggae-influenced material set with her trio featuring Idris Rahman on bass and Saleem Raman on drums. Idris Rahman, multi-instrumentalist and producer who is best known for his group Soothsayers as well as for his collaborations on Bengali-influenced jazz with his sister Zoe Rahman, will perform a special duo set with beat boxer and vocal sculptor Jason Singh

Aruba In Wonderland:
Natascha ‘Aruba Red’ Eleonoré and Camilo Tirado (percussionist from Dick Whittington Goes Bollywood) play a set with a special guest. You will not want to miss the band Nitin Sawhney described as having a killer vibe.

Gauri Chowdhury, Himanshu Goswami, and Khiyo:
Gauri Choudhury is amongst the finest of Bengali singers in the UK. This is a rare opportunity to catch beautifully rendered traditional Bengali songs performed with harmonium and tabla. Accomplished tabla player Himanshu Goswami joins both Gauri and then a duo from British Bengali band Khiyo. Sohini Alam (vocalist of Tara pantos and Kanjoos The Miser) and Oliver Weeks take you on a journey that gives Bengali heritage music a modern acoustic sound.
