Celebrated food writer Anya Von Bremzen’s ‘The Art of Soviet Cooking’ is a tragicomic memoir about food, family, memory and exile. It tells the tale of three generations surviving a tumultuous century and the central place food – or the lack of it – has in 20th century history and family life. According to Heston Blumenthal it is ‘heartbreakingly poignant and laugh-out-loud funny’. Von Bremzen will read extracts from her book and discuss.
