Caesarean Section is about suicidal impulse and the involuntary force that pulls us back from the brink. Using intense physicality, Teatr ZAR deliver a powerful performance through music and movement.

The music was developed from a base of polyphonic Corsican songs woven with Bulgarian, Romanian, Icelandic and Chechen influences. The result is a score which evokes intensity in each and every drop of sound, combined with equally affecting and visceral movement in this passionate piece of work.

The show is the second section of Gospels of Childhood The Triptych, originally produced for the Fabbrica Europa festival in Florence, 2007.

‘The shriek of wild laughter, the stamping of feet and the shattering of glass… a show that lodges like a splinter in the brain.’
