The series of songs by Tchaikovsky in the first half of the concert include Don Juan’s Serenade from Mozartiana, a tribute to Mozart – followed by 5 songs by Schubert. The second half includes works by the Soviet neo-romantic composer Georgii Sviridov and finishes with Five Romances on Poems by Yevgeniy Dolmatovsky: settings by Shostakovich of verse by the popular Soviet poet and lyricist.

Christian Fellner studied at Trinity College of Music and London University: he then went to Moscow for postgraduate vocal studies with Professor Yevgenia Sheveliova. He has performed widely across Europe, Russia and the Middle East, including recitals in Moscow at the Sviatoslav Richter International Foundation, the Roerich Museum and the Scriabin Museum.

Mikhail Mordvinov studied at the Gnessin School under Tatiana Zelikman. At just 20 years old he was propelled onto the international stage after winning the Schumann competition in Zwickau and the Schubert Competition in Dortmund, signing his first recording contract in 1998. He is a soloist with the Moscow State Academy Philharmonic Orchestra.

Fellner and Mordvinov have previously given recitals together in Moscow.
