Following on from a sell-out tour of London's gin distilleries in February, the WSET’s London Wine & Spirit School is delighted to announce a second Gin Ramble on Friday 27th September 2013. Ramblers will visit some of London's most intriguing gin distilleries and meet with London's Master Distillers to experience exclusive tastings and insights into the world of gin.

Celebrating the spirit’s extraordinary history, and the recent rise in boutique gin distilleries in London, the WSET Gin Ramble will be presented by the WSET’s Mike Walpole and Tom Sandham of The Thinking Drinkers Guide to Alcohol and author of the World's Best Cocktails.

The WSET’s London Wine & Spirit School’s Gin Ramble:

- 9am: Introduction to the day at WSET HQ on Bermondsey Street presented by Mike and Tom;

- The history of gin, with the 'Godfather of Gin', Master Distiller Charles Maxwell of Thames Distillers. Charles' family has been in the gin distilling business for seven generations; Thames Distillers distills and bottles over 40 different gins per year;

- Tasting with Sacred's Master Distiller Ian Hart and introduction to the only distillery to operate from a sitting room;

- Lunch at the Princess Victoria in Shepherd's Bush. Built in 1829, the Princess Victoria began life as an imposing Victorian Gin Palace;

- Tour of the Sipsmith distillery in Hammersmith, the first copper pot distillery to launch in London in 189 years;

- Tour of the recently launched The London Distillery Company in Battersea, with distillers Andrew MacLeod Smith and Darren Rook. Here, ramblers will choose botanicals to be distilled in the WSET's very own Gin Ramble Gin, which will be sent out to guests once ready;

- Gin cocktail masterclass, presented by Tom, at 214 Bermondsey gin and cocktail bar, Bermondsey Street.

Each ticket will cover transport from the WSET’s London Wine & Spirit School to the distilleries on the gin ramble and back to Bermondsey Street in the evening, entrance to distilleries, two-course lunch, snacks, gin tastings, a complimentary gin cocktail and a small bottle of the Gin Ramble Gin.
