This September King of the Wing returns to the Jam Tree in Clapham, where London's most daring contenders will put their taste buds to the test at what will be the Jam Tree's third and fiercest spicy buffalo wing eating competition yet.

Thursday 19th September 2013 will see fearless competitors with strong stomachs and a flexible approach to table manners battle it out to be crowned the King of the Wing. On the day, individuals will compete to wolf down as many of the Jam Tree’s red-hot spicy buffalo wings as they can handle in just 8 minutes. Last year’s winner, Dave Cosgrave, put away an impressive 1.2kg of wings cheered on by a 300-strong crowd.

At this year’s all-you-can-eat showdown, opponents will compete for fame, glory and a hefty bar tab. First prize is a £500 bar tab to spend at Jam Tree Clapham or Jam Tree Chelsea, as well as your name on the trophy and the sheer kudos of being the Champion. Second prize is a lofty £300 bar tab, and third prize, not to be sniffed at, is a £200 bar tab.

Laced with a dangerous and top secret combination of chilli, Tabasco and cayenne pepper, the Jam Tree’s fiery wings are blast-your-head-off hot. The Jam Tree expects temperatures to soar and passions to run hot and cold beers will be served to cool things down at the dinner table.

For those who think they’ve got what it takes to devour smokin’ wings to the clock whilst keeping their cool, entry is now open and hopefuls can apply by emailing [email protected]. For those who break into a sweat at the thought of it, the Jam Tree cordially welcomes you to witness an evening of reddening faces, sauce smothered fingers, furiously chomping chops and unflinching guts.
