Open House London offers the opportunity to step inside the heart of RSC headquarters in Piccadilly.

Burlington House is a Grade II* listed building and it has been the dignified home of the Royal Society of Chemistry since 1857 (originally called The Chemical Society).

The East wing was built in 1870s and the Royal Society of Chemistry moved in from across the courtyard in 1967. The interior was refurbished to its Victorian grandeur in 2008.

The tour will take visitors on the first two floors of the building, showcasing some of our most beautiful rooms including
the Council room and the original 1870 two-storey Library.

Visitors will also be able to admire the historical collections of books, artifacts and portraits. A unique insight into the home of the world's leading chemistry community!

- Explore the history of the building and of the learned societies it has housed with our video guided tour
- Meet experts from our Historical Group and staff to discover the past, present and future of the Royal Society of Chemistry
- Take part in our historical competition and win t-shirts, popular books and chemistry games

This event is part of the Open House London 2013.
