Rupert Whale
Rupert’s works depict places of dereliction, absence and flux, disregarded and neglected, and yet with a beauty of their own. The subjects are of varying scale and both interior and exterior. He explores the interplay between order and disorder, the planned and the accidental, freedom and restraint and how they spill into each other. His paintings, of objects and places both familiar and ambiguous, reflect these tensions.
Rupert works in oil and acrylic on canvas. His style moves from the figurative towards abstraction; he challenges viewers to provide their own interpretation of the paintings.
Private view: 12th September 6.30pm - 8.30pm
