The Magma Group of artists, exhibiting at the invitation of the Vibe Gallery in Bermondsey, will be the main feature of the Bermondsey Arts Festival, which runs from 27th September to 8th October 2013. The private view of The Magma Group, which is the festival’s opening event, will be on Friday 27th September with performances from the Eastern European band ‘Balabustah’ and the London Euphonia Chamber Orchestra.

The exhibition is a forum for the most exciting, individual and expressive British and international art being made today. In this, their third show, the group will exhibit paintings, photography and sculpture, ranging between the figurative and abstract.

The aims of the Magma Group are to form an alternative path for the current of conceptually expressive contemporary art, and to provide a showcase and international network for artists whose work combines expressive and conceptual qualities.

The Magma Group was founded in 2011 and is made up of outstanding artists from France, Germany, Cyprus, Poland, Russia and the UK, some of whom have shown at the Venice Biennale. Group founder Annie Zamero says, “We aim to embrace concepts in our work but don’t retain them solely in the intellect. We want to make the concept visual and accessible in an energetically expressive way, with a keen interest in the aesthetic.”
