Members of the Royal and Armed Forces families will come together with leading performers on Saturday 9 November at the Royal Albert Hall for The Royal British Legion’s annual Festival of Remembrance.
The Festival honours the service and sacrifices of British Armed Forces from all conflicts, in particular those lost in the past year on active duty.
Special tributes from leading performers will be interspersed with real-life stories from some of the hundreds of thousands of former and serving Forces personnel the Legion helps every year. The event will be shown on BBC 1 at 9.15pm and broadcast on Radio 2 at 8pm.
Former Army Officer James Blunt and singer Katie Melua will be among those on stage. Other performers include Britain’s Got Talent opera duo Jonathan and Charlotte, singer Alfie Boe, new group The Poppy Girls, the Band of the Royal Marines and the Central Band of the Royal Air Force.
The Festival is followed by Remembrance services on Sunday at the Cenotaph, while the nation will pause to reflect during the Two Minute Silence at 11.00am on 11 November, Armistice Day.
