Glam up, put on your dancing shoes and shimmy on down to the fabulous Rivoli Ballroom in South London for an immersive film experience inspired by Baz Luhrmann's Strictly Ballroom, the latest of the London Lates presented by the National Trust's London Project and Hacked Off Films.

For one night only you can live your ballroom dream. A flamenco guitarist and a dance coach will get you in the mood before ‘Scott’ dances past recalling Strictly Ballroom’s much loved Paso Doble scenes. This is a unique opportunity to waltz beneath the chandeliers, Chinese lanterns and glitter balls in the plush red velvet interiors of the Rivoli. Go glitzy in the Lady’s Parlour – a back-stage make-up room, learn some ballroom basics and have the chance to show off your skills and sparkles to our judging panel. There will be performances from professional ballroom dancers throughout the evening before a dance-off with a trophy for the winning couple.

Originally the Rivoli was the Crofton Park Picture Palace and it's been nearly 60 years since it was used as a cinema but Hacked Off Films and the London Project will also be presenting a full screening of Strictly Ballroom with dancers re-enacting Scott and Fran’s final dance. Finally, dance yourself silly at the Strictly Ballroom disco with recognisable tracks from the film and more classic dance numbers. There are many more surprises in store on the night at this Strictly Ballroom extravaganza.

This Grade II listed Art Deco dance hall is the only intact 1950s ballroom remaining in London. You will recognise the Rivoli; it's so famous it seems familiar – Florence and the Machine, Rihanna, Tina Turner, Oasis and Elton John among others shot music videos here. Kate Moss and many glitterati have used the venue for shoots too. It’s also Len Goodman’s favourite dance hall from his youth where he discovered a passion for Ballroom that’s never left him.
