A journey in song and dance through the melancholic passion of the most beautiful tangos staged in the memories of a Buenos Aires 'Traviata'.
Opera singer and tango lover Ann Liebeck, who has sung Violetta, the Queen of the Night and many other classic opera roles, joins forces with charismatic dancer Nuno Silva, Cuban violinist Omar Puente, French/Argentinian bandoneon player Ninon Valder, young Venezuelan pianist Alfredo Ovalles and Argentinian double bass player Guillermo Delgado in a dramatic evening of Verdi, Piazzolla, Ravel, Bizet, Carlos Gardel and Francisco Canaro which reveals the strong operatic influences in the tango of 1930s Buenos Aires. Arrangements for this show are being prepared by Nicolás 'Colacho' Brizuela. The staging is designed by Gilles Gubelmann and choreographed by Kati Codogno and David Benitez.
Many tango composers came to Argentina from Southern Italy, with its strong tradition of verismo or true-to-life opera. Revenge, murder and love are themes at the heart of opera and profoundly in the dark heart of Tango.
