Throughout Keats's life and writings there is a tension between Milton and Shakespeare which, after a moment of crisis, is resolved in favour of Shakespeare. David Pollard’s talk follows Keats through this crisis, using his poetry and letters to shed light on Keats’s thoughts about the creative process and poetic inspiration.
