The story of eight year old William, an evacuee from London sent to the heart of the English countryside to stay with elderly recluse Tom Oakley where he meets some fascinating characters before his cruel and selfish mother demands he return to London.

The original novel is already a modern classic and led to the multi-award-winning TV film with John Thaw. Now comes this hugely enjoyable, life-affirming musical. It's a wonderful, tender, humorous but ultimately uplifting show.
