Premiere art – view lithographs signed by Nelson Mandela at London gallery after blockbuster release

With the much anticipated biopic about Nelson Mandela hitting the big screen early next year, art enthusiasts can visit London’s Belgravia Gallery to learn more about his life by viewing official lithographs and photographs signed by the world’s greatest living statesman. Pieces are accompanied by powerful commentary, prepared by Mandela himself.

To coincide with the film release, The Belgravia Gallery is bringing together its collection of powerful pieces by the ‘Father of Africa’ for a new exhibition, Nelson Mandela: The Long Walk to Freedom. The exhibition will be on display at the gallery for one month from 5 January to 2 February 2014.

The exhibition will feature 16 lithographs which were signed by Mandela in South Africa when gallery owners Laura Walford and Anna Hunter travelled to meet him at his home in South Africa in 2002. Among these are original drawings of Robben Island where Mandela was imprisoned as well as images of his beloved South Africa, photos from throughout his extraordinary life by celebrated photographer Jergen Schadeberg and a signed and illustrated copy of Mandela’s book, The Long Walk to Freedom.
