Taking place at lunchtime in the relaxed atmosphere of the Café Consort, ignite features talented musicians from around the world. No need to book, just turn up and enjoy fantastic music and food and drink.

Friday 4 March 2014 - Kamao Quintet

A repertoire that ranges from hot swinging jazz featuring captivating virtuoso improvisations, to the saddest gypsy ballads, the liveliest waltzes, as well as original compositions. They have performed at various venues including The Vortex Jazz Club, Le Quecumbar, the Green Note, St James Theatre. Manouche music beautifully combines jazz with the warmth and liveliness of the Gyspy culture of Western Europe.

Friday 25 April 2014 – The Sunshine Kings

A rich mixture of swing, New Orleans, charleston and blues, all played with intensity and a sense of fun, The Sunshine Kings brings it all together into a band that makes people of all ages dance, clap, tap toes, and go home with a smile. Great for dancing, great for listening, great for anyone wanting to have a good time. The band’s repertoire is drawn largely from the small group jazz of the 20’s and 30’s with a few other interesting numbers from other eras thrown in to spice things up.

Saturday 26 April 2014 – Kourosh Kanani

Led by Kourosh Kanani, a young and talented Gypsy Swing guitarist, the Kourosh Kanani Gypsy Swing Quartet will perform a mixture of modern jazz, Latin and original compositions, playing in the style of Django Reinhardt and the hot club of France. Marked in the top 5 gypsy jazz players in the country by Le Quecumbar, London, Kourosh is becoming "the rising star of gypsy guitar".
