More At The Hall: Late Night Jazz
Our intimate Late Night Jazz series presents sensational music in the relaxed setting of the Elgar Room.
Benoit Viellefon is proud to present his Hot Club, inspired by the hot swinging music that emerged from the infamous Parisian Cafes and nightclubs of the 1920s & ‘30s.
The Hot Club’s show celebrates the burning excitement of those hot gypsy swing numbers made famous by Django Reinhardt, together with the romanticism of the finest musettes and waltzes from the French tradition. With a nod to the American jazz virtuosi who visited Paris, such as Louis Armstrong and Sidney Bechet, the Hot Club features both trumpet and clarinet alongside the timeless two-guitars and double bass lineup.
The perfect mix of European finesse and the restless fervour of American swing, the Hot Club are the modern-day embodiment of the spirit of a bygone age.
