Veilight photography exhibition by Sean Afnan

Following the sensational MAGMA Exhibition ‘Interscape’ at Building BloQs in September, Building BloQs is bringing you another new exhibition to you.

In January 2014, Building BloQs welcomes creative portrait photographer Sean Afnan. Sean’s influences include 17th Century painters like Rembrandt and Vermeer and modern editorial photographers such as Annie Leibowitz and Mark Seliger. Working primarily in digital, he uses light, styling and symbol to give his images an evocative, otherworldly appearance. Yet his unapologetic use of image manipulation techniques is directed towards exploring new paradigms of beauty, rather than simply reinforce narrow, existing ones.

Veilight is a collection of personal work that explores the concepts of joy and sorrow. While the work contains a number of images in which the spectre of sadness looms large the subjects, despair ultimately resolves itself into hope and the photographs celebrate beauty in its many incarnations. Light yet dark, figurative yet humorous, Veilight is a collection of bold, technically excellent images that will inspire the imagination as much as the heart of the viewer.
