Steppes Travel is delighted to be hosting an evening with Jimmy Nelson at the Royal Geographical Society in aid of ActionAid. This is an event which will celebrate Steppes Travel’s 25th Anniversary and launch a portfolio of pioneering new tours.

Acclaimed photographer and explorer, Jimmy Nelson, will discuss the fragility and beauty of communities from around the world and sharing his sensational photographs depicting their ancient traditions. A collection of his portraits are displayed in his new book ‘Before they pass away’.

His work is not merely about the aesthetic appeal. It is a plea to open our hearts and minds to the delicate nature of indigenous people. Respecting their habitats, recording their pride and helping to pass on their traditions to generations to come, recognising them as part of our collective history. Simply, to not forget them.

The evening will be in support of ActionAid. Working in over 40 countries across Africa, Asia and Latin America, ActionAid help people to break free from poverty.

Justin Wateridge, Managing Director of Steppes Travel comments, ‘Our ethos is very much about travelling to protect and conserve. We should be supporting these indigenous peoples and fragile eco-environments and helping them sustain their way of life and traditions and also how best to adapt to the modern world.’
