Written by Nick Moran and James Hicks
Directed by Phillip Ley
Presented by the Tower Theatre Company
Telstar tells the brief, explosive and bizarre story of the world’s first independent record producer - Joe Meek - and his most prolific period spent at 304 Holloway Road between 1961 and 1967.
Despite incredibly limited resources and a studio built in his own small flat, he recorded three dynamite hits of the period : Johnny Remember Me, Have I The Right and of course Telstar.
The inspired recording sessions and the wild times had by his band, an unrequited love for his protégé and a fateful alliance with his landlady all feature in this manic, witty and evocative drama of music and madness.
