This super-group of sorts is led by clarinetist, saxophonist and composer Shabaka Hutchings, featuring Oren Marshall on tuba and both Tom Skinner and Seb Rochford on drums. They deliver a unique take on jazz, Caribbean folk music and African Diasporan history all wrapped up into one extremely accessible bundle! Their sound is a sophisticated mixture of atmospheric sounds, cross-rhythms and drum chattery. Their broad influences range from Calypso to New Orleans street music constituting danceable grooves, originality and sophistication.

The combined credentials of the band members is more than impressive, including Radiohead, Courtney Pine, Matthew Herbert, Zero 7, Polar bear and the BBC Concert Orchestra amongst many more. The four mighty creative forces of Sons of Kemet yields music that is powerful, lyrical and, above all, fiercely original.

Prepare yourselves to be taken on a musical journey with this incredible quartet, this is not one to miss out on so save the date in your Diaries!

'One of the hippest of new UK bands, it's almost certain to dominate the best of lists at the end of the year' The Guardian

'They're easily the most exciting band to come my way on the new Brit¬Jazz scene over the last year' Jazzwise

'Rising star saxophonist Shabaka Hutchings leads the double drumming wallop of SoK with both Tom Skinner and Seb Rochford kicking out the beats with tuba dude Oren Marshall administering the low end rumbles. Their tub thumping style mash up combines New Orleans, African, Caribbean and dub sounds with some scorching improv thrown in for good measure.' Time Out
