The Conservatoire in Blackheath has teamed up with highly regarded folk music club The Nest Collective to bring an exciting line-up of folk acts to South East Londoners between February and April this year. The first band to take to the stage will be the critically acclaimed Firefly Burning, who will be entertaining folk fans in the Conservatoire’s stunning Victorian Life drawing studio, one of the last of its kind in the country.
Firefly Burning are an East London collective born out a series of chance musical encounters. The band create songs which paint sound pictures with javanese gamalan, guitar, strings, piano, gongs and voices. Eclectically embracing Sufjan Stevens' wonky unadulterated pop and the post-minimalism of John Adams, Firefly Burning's music is full of close harmonies, intricate rhythms and evocative atmospheres. In debut album Lightships shades of Debussy and William Byrd vie with eastern textures to capture their hypnotic live performances.
All events are open to those aged 16+.
