THE FORGOTTEN HEROINE Sylvia Pankhurst: Everything is Possible
Free documentary screening & Q&A with Director Ceri Dingle at the WORLDwrite Centre 201 Millfields Road, London E5 0AL. In feature length essay form, this documentary traces the life and impact of lesser known East End heroine Sylvia Pankhurst. A famous suffragette, internationalist, anti-imperialist and communist, the film brings to life her ideas, campaigns and politics. The film is packed with facts from primary sources, rare images from museums and archives, interviews with historians and compelling testimony from Sylvia’s son Richard Pankhurst and his wife Rita. How to find us: We are at the bottom of Millfields Rd, the other side of the blocked off to traffic part, past the park on your left, opposite Oswald Street. We are in a red brick building with a black gate and fence panels, right behind the 242 bus stop and shelter.
The 242 runs from Liverpool St station and takes up to 45 minutes. You can also get this bus from Hackney Central (10-15 mins) or from Dalston (10-15mins). The Overground stops not far away at Homerton station or Hackney Central from where you can jump on a 242 bus which will take about 10 mins and drops you outside our centre at the Oswald Street bus stop. If you are driving you need to enter Millfields Road from Chatsworth Road, you cannot access our part of Millfields Road from the top end on Lower Clapton Road as it’s a no through road.
