Join us for a charity screening of Metro Manila (2014 BAFTA-nominated Foreign Language Film, Winner of the World Cinema Audience Award at the 2013 Sundance Film Festival, and Best Film and Best Director at BIFA 2013).
In remembrance of the lives and livelihoods lost to Typhoon Haiyan six months ago, we are donating all profits towards building ‘bangkas’ (traditional fishing boats) for fishermen in Dulag municipality, Leyte. During the typhoon, all bangkas were lost or destroyed leaving fisherman and their families unable to gather food and make a living. As they look to rebuild their lives they must re-establish their livelihoods in order to foster local economic growth, of which fishing makes up to 70%. This project has already delivered 18 bangkas and there are at least another 15 fishermen to help.
