Minima and St John on Bethnal Green invite you to a night of film and music set within the atmospheric nave of this grade-one listed church.
Based on the Dracula story, F.W. Murnau's 1922 'Nosferatu' is a true spine-tingler, which has stood the test of time - with Max Schreck’s portrayal of Count Orlok being one of cinema’s great iconic images. Darkly humorous and tender too - this 1922 classic is a story of yearning and the search for fulfillment.

Minima’s music is an audacious 21st-Century interpretation of silent and avant-garde film. The ensemble of drums, bass, guitar and cello combine hypnotic post-rock beats with quasi-classical arrangements, striking up a thrilling relationship with the film. Open your eyes and ears to this daring collision of image and sound.

“The atmosphere was absolutely magical… hundreds of people seemed utterly spellbound.” (East End Film Festival)

“Minima are one of the leading bands accompanying silent film in Europe.”
(Robert Rider, Head of Cinema, the Barbican Centre)

St John on Bethnal Green, who recently hosted Pere Ubu performing a live score to the 50s chiller ‘Carnival of Souls’, is pleased to continue welcoming these exciting collaborations of classic films and contemporary music.

St John's licensed cash bar open throughout the evening.
