Stephen Hough CBE performs a stirring programme including Brahms and Schumann, celebrating the transformative power of music in aid of the Irene Taylor Trust ‘Music in Prisons’ at Temple Church.

One of the most distinctive artists of his generation, Stephen Hough combines a distinguished career as a concert pianist with those of a composer and a writer. Named by The Economist as one of 20 Living Polymaths, Hough was the first classical performer to be awarded a MacArthur Fellowship, whereby he joined prominent scientists, writers, and others who have made unique contributions to contemporary life, and was appointed CBE in the 2014 New Year’s Honours.

Programme: Brahms - Seven Fantasias, Op. 116; Schumann - Carnaval

Set up in memory of Irene Taylor, wife of the late Lord Chief Justice Peter Taylor, since 1995 the Irene Taylor Trust has been at the forefront of arts and rehabilitation, working with men and women of all ages in prison, ex-prisoners and young people at risk of offending, using the creation of music to inspire change and help participants develop important life skills needed to become valued members of their communities.
