JAZZ JAM ARRIVES AT BARTS

Launching on Sunday 18 May, secret speakeasy bar Barts, will be hosting a month long series of swinging Sundays, with the return of Jazz Jam.

That’s right, harping back to the 1920’s, the heyday of the speakeasy, Uncle Barts and his bootlegging team have decided to launch a series of top-secret, Sunday evening parties. Starting at 6pm guests will be welcomed to enjoy the start of summer in Barts enchanting secret garden, before being ushered inside for a good old fashioned knees up, with live performances each week from a selection of talented guest bands and tip-top Jazz acts.

Jazz Jam will be running for 4 weeks and the acts will be as follows:

Sunday 18th May - Aurelius Sciuka & Antonio Campbell
Sunday 25th May - BANK HOLIDAY WEEKEND - John Cervantes Duo
Sunday 1st June - Will Butterworth and Jac Jones duo
Sunday 8th June - Aurelius Sciuka & Antonio Campbell

For those that want to take full advantage of having the Monday off work, on Sunday 25th May, Barts has pulled out all the stops, and booked the infamous London based, Jazz pianist, composer and band leader, John Cervantes Duo, to host a bank holiday Sunday sing-along.

John Cervantes has led his groups at Vortex Jazz Club, Pizza Express Jazz Club Soho, Charlie Wrights International, Manchester Jazz Festival, Derry Jazz Festival, N. Ireland, and Matt&Phreds Club, among many others. As a band member for other musicians he has performed at festivals and venues across Europe such as the London Jazz Festival; King's Place; 606 Club; Openair St. Gallen Festival in Switzerland; and SambaFest in Gdansk, Poland.

Barts was opened five years ago and is London’s first 'speakeasy' style bar located on the prestigious Sloane Avenue. It is the brainchild of Duncan Stirling and Charlie Gilkes, the dynamic duo that own the Inception Group that also comprises of the highly successful 80’s themed nightclub, Maggie’s and an Englishman's Italian, Bar, Pizzeria and Karaoke, Bunga Bunga in Battersea, Mr Fogg’s, a Mayfair based bar that is modeled on the actual home of Jules Verne’s most famous adventurer, Phileas Fogg, and DISCO, an underground boite in Soho based on the 1970s disco movement in Manhattan. This summer they will launch Cocobananas, a nightclub based on a Brazilian beach party and Beaver Lodge, a cabin bar and dance saloon based on the winter cowboy log cabins found in Wyoming.
