Greenwich & Lewisham Young People’s Theatre and Teatro Vivo are looking for enthusiastic members of the community to perform in as part of the chorus in their forthcoming outdoor production of Mother Courage and Her Children.

The two local theatre companies are producing a major new site-based adaptation of Bertolt Brecht’s Mother Courage and Her Children this summer. The production will take place on the Royal Arsenal site, opening as part of the Tall Ships Festival on 5th September and running until the 21st. Alongside a professional cast of actors and musicians, local people will make up a chorus of thirty performers. This keen group of local people can be any age, from all walks of life and should be open to trying something a little different.

Mother Courage and Her Children will be performed by a professional and community cast, using poetry, song and unforgettable characters to bring the arsenal’s public spaces to life. The role of the local community performers will be to populate the site around the performance, and introduce audiences to the world of Brecht’s timeless story, as well as performing, singing or guide the audience.

This is a chance to develop your singing and/or acting skills, whether you’ve done something like this before or it’s your first time, the director urges you to come along and try it out. A central ethos of both theatre companies is a passion for sharing their expertise and getting local people involved in their dynamic productions.
If performing isn’t your thing and you’re more interested in working backstage and helping to prepare and manage each show then you can be a volunteer steward instead.

Chorus and Steward roles are open to anyone over the age of 16, or younger if accompanied by an adult. Specific dates for rehearsals and performances are available from GLYPT upon request.

To register your interest please call GLYPT on 020 8854 1316 or email [email protected]
