Bex Marshall & The Mercy

Though she’s from Devonshire and lives in London, one could swear that Bex Marshall hailed from a Southern bayou or a Midwestern steel town in the US. Her guitar playing mixes fingerpicking and slide with a raspy tone and vocal phrasing that is quintessential blues. She’s toured around the world and her recordings have regularly charted in America, the recent “Kitchen Table” reaching #20 in the Americana Music Association Chart (AMA). Her current CD, “The House of Mercy” has received rave reviews and generated appearances on BBC Radio 2 with hosts Paul Jones and Bob Harris. To quote Classic Rock Magazine UK, “…you can see why Bex Marshall has Paul Jones in a flap…that she wrote these 11 never-boring songs is the mark of a talent to watch”. Bex’s first performance here as part of our ‘Singers in the Round’ series left the audience wanting more, so we are pleased to welcome her and her band as she headlines at the 606 for the first time!
