In the summer of 2013 The Mosaic Rooms launched an open call for exhibition proposals from independent curators. From the submissions received, we are delighted to have selected My Sister Who Travels, curated by Martina Caruso.

This group exhibition features six contemporary women artists who use lens-based media: Corinne Silva, Paola Yacoub, Ursula Schulz-Dornburg, Jananne Al Ani, Noor Abed and Halida Boughriet. Each in her own way challenges canonical representations of landscape photography, and their works are presented alongside archival photographs by Esther Van Deman, a Victorian archaeologist, whose work acts as a fulcrum for the project.

Join us, curator Martina Caruso, and the exhibiting artists to celebrate the opening with drinks and nibbles!

We are delighted to announce there will also be a special kanun performance throughout the evening from celebrated musician Maya Youssef, pictured above. Virtuoso Syrian kanun player, educator and composer Maya Youssef comes from a family of artists. Maya’s style is rooted in the ancient and rich tradition of Syrian music, as well as pushing the boundaries of her instrument.
