Part of the Rich Mix Takeover.

This August we're hosting another amazing Rich Mix Youth Takeover! Three weeks of live events on fashion, music and dance plus free creative workshops from Futureversity.
From 1 - 22 August you can expect Rich Mix to be packed full of fantastic events and activities dedicated to young people aged 16 - 25.

Yamuna Yemanja is a project that will engage students and audiences in a series of collaborative workshops across the UK linking the Afro-Brazilian gods (Orixas) with the traditional Indian Gods in a dazzling display of carnival arts, in two major public arenas: Brazilica Festival (Liverpool) and Notting Hill Carnival (Pre Carnival Night and Parade).

Using kathak and maracatu in this dialogue, we have gathered the following artists in this process. Supported by Arts Council England (Grants for the Arts) Gandaia Pre Carnival Night will showcase the result of this process via Maracatudo Mafua Band + special guests TBA.

A Gandaia Drumming Workshop will take place in Basement/Green Room from 4-5pm. To book for this workshop, please click here.

About Gandaia

Gandaia Arts is an organisation specialised in the dissemination of Brazilian culture. After 5 years of great development, including winning Cultural Events by International Press Awards – Focus Brazil 2013 Gandaia registered as a Limited Company by Guarantee. By gathering a great portfolio through educational and performance productions in UK we have set a great team of artists, partnerships and collaborations for the summer season of 2014. Aiming to use the Brazilian culture as a transforming agent into peoples lives and values and perception, we have been able to reach thousands of people in both participation and audience activities, unfolding our artists skills and opening the dialogue of non cliché cultural proposals.
