2.8 Hours Later returns to London for Halloween
Will you survive the Zombie apocalypse?

London is on lockdown, the infection is spreading and panic is taking hold… the zombies are coming… will you survive?

2.8 Hours Later, the smash-hit, adrenaline filled, cross-city urban chase game, is back for Halloween and hitting the streets of London. The zombie apocalypse will be descending on London over nine nights with tickets still available for 16th, 23rd, 24th, 30th, 31st October and 1st November. This is the last game of the year following sold out games in seven UK cities and it is expected that almost 5,000 people will take part in the game over the nine nights. The production values will be greater than the game earlier in the year in London and there will be a specially honed script with an amazing Zombie Disco to cap off the year.

The unique street game involves participants partaking in an immersive narrative as they try and escape the ‘zombies’ out to get them. Decisions made by players along the way have repercussions on the route they take, the characters they meet and, ultimately, their chances of success or failure.

The 2014 version of the game, called ‘Survival’, follows a totally original, multi-linear story line, touching on many real-life themes and current affairs including terrorism, immigration, government surveillance and corruption, set in a terrifying world of filmic gore.

Starting in the relative safety of the ‘asylum’ participants must go on a mission to collect much needed supplies from the city. They are provided with a map to help them find the first checkpoint where they unlock the information required to find the next checkpoint, and so on, as they become immersed further in to the apocalyptic world of 2.8 hours later.

As they navigate their way around the route, they will be chased by scores of the infected, meeting characters along the way who will aid or inhibit their progress Played by convincing actors, and in full costume and make-up, the zombies try to ‘catch’ participants by marking them with invisible ink. In the 2014 version of the game players must also be wary of the police and other government authorities who are trying to ‘quarantine’ civilians in order to stem the flow of infection.

Not for the faint hearted, adrenaline is kept at a high as participants are forced to sprint, duck, run, jump and hide to escape the walking dead. The psychological pressure is increased further as players are confronted by puzzles to solve, tasks to complete and choices to make.

The aim of the mission is for players to make it back to the asylum, with their tasks completed and without being infected (marked with ink) by the zombies. A UV light is used to scan for ink marks and all players infected are turned in to zombies ahead of the ‘zombie disco’ – the after party – where everyone lives and parties in harmony.

The game, developed by award-winning game designers, Slingshot, is now in its fifth year, with the narrative for 2014 picking up where the 2013 story ended. Over 60,000 people have taken part in 2.8 Hours Later to date.

Having originally launched in Bristol, 2.8 Hours Later has since been played in cities across the UK including Leeds, Cardiff, Manchester and Glasgow. Each game generates in the region of £50,000 for the local economy.

Simon Evans, who co-founded 2.8 Hours Later with his business partner Simon Johnson, said; “Our players become totally immersed in the narrative, and seem to love the adrenaline kick they get from playing the game. The story creates a convincing world of gritty realism, where players struggle to tell where the actors start and stop the public begin. The lines between reality and game are constantly blurred and broken, and hearts genuinely do get pumping and minds start racing.”

He added; “It’s a totally unique activity and a great way to have fun with your friends. You basically become a character in your own horror film or video game. Most people sign up as a team, but you can sign up individually. Our only restriction is that you have to be over 18 to play.”
Tickets start from £38 per person. To find out more, to watch the trailer, or to book tickets, go to www.2.8HoursLater.com
