Hungry Childhoods Art Exhibition at The Kids Company Gallery
No child should ever have to suffer from hunger but sadly, for too many children in the UK, hunger and food insecurity is an increasingly common experience. With little to no official recognition of children not getting enough to eat and even less action to tackle it, Kids Company commissioned the University of Reading to research and document the experiences of the families and children who attend Kids Company. The findings have revealed children and their parents struggling to cope with hunger, poor nutrition and chronic food insecurity.
“HUNGRY CHILDHOOD’S” is an interactive art exhibition created by the exceptionally vulnerable children of Kids Company who participated in the research. It leaves us in no doubt of the devastating impact of food insecurity on children and their families and is an undeniable testimony to the growing problem of food insecurity experienced by marginalised and deprived children throughout the U.K.
